Celtics Award "Heroes Among Us"

Patrick Thibodeau of Greely High School and Josh Titus of Edward Little High School were honored by the Massachusetts State Lottery and the Boston Celtics at the Celtics play-off game on May 6, 2009 with a Heroes Among Us award and served as Honorary Celtics’ Captains for the night.

The Boston Celtics and the Massachusetts State Lottery honored Josh Titus and Patrick Thibodeau with Heroes Among Us Award at the May 6, 2009 Celtics Play-off game, TD Banknorth Garden.

In addition, both Maine high school seniors served as Honorary Captains, joining Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic Team Captains and Game Officials at The Garden’s Center Court.

Josh and Patrick and their entourage - which included Josh’s father Andy and Coach Mike Adams and Patrick’s mother Pat and his brother Ryan - received VIP hospitality, arriving in a vehicle provided by the Celtics at the team’s Corporate Offices for a pre-game behind the scenes tour. The boys lived out a dream as they watched Celtics Team Warm-ups, seated at the courtside Scorers’ Table.

Prior to tip-off, the young men were announced as “Honorary Team Captains Josh Titus and Patrick Thibodeau,” and walked to Center Court  where they were introduced to both Boston Celtics’ and Orlando Magic’s Team Captains and the Referees. After a round of handshakes, photographers snapped images of the group. From their excellently positioned  seats, the boys took in what proved to be a great game; one that showcased the talent that made it a Celtics night.

When the 2nd Quarter/2nd Media Time-out rolled around, Josh and Patrick returned to Center Court, this time with the entire floor to themselves, where they received the Massachusetts State Lottery Heroes Among Us Award. As the two were being honored and their story told to the fans, their faces appeared on the JumboTron screens. It was truly a magical night for these two Celtics fans from Maine, witnessing Boston capture a Game 2 victory over the Orlando Magic, 112-94.
